  2. Out of the Ashes into the Fire

Burnt to ash my blackened skin. I dared to dream. When the fire around me overcame me. A chaos burning undiscerning. Hope dashed against stones and bones. I lay dormant. Tormented by a future unfolding. Unbeknownst to the seeds unfurling. Uncrowded by once strangling roots. Ashen soil to flourish and sow. Healed by hibernation, for the bellyache to yearn and churn again. For a desire unmet. For a dream's need to exist. This crisp carapace crumbles, as my leaves twist to face the sun. The colour returns and I'm drawn to the pyre once more. To reenter the cycle of passion and pain. Of fire and rain.
